ORGANIZATION
The Manufacturing Skills Academy (MSA) is an employer-led project of the Central Oklahoma Manufacturers Association (COMA). The MSA was funded in 2023 through the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) and is led by Principal Investigator Sharon Harrison (of Harrison Consulting Group). Located in Oklahoma City, the MSA will offer young people between 18-24 a paid learning opportunity to prepare them for careers in the critical occupations in manufacturing. The MSA collaborates with partners in non-profit, education, and workforce sectors.
The MSA is guided by five core principles:
● Build strong and positive relationships between program participants, staff, instructors, and mentors.
● Create genuine work-based learning opportunities through job shadows, site visits, and manufacturing of real products.
● Create a culture of shared responsibility between program participants, staff and instructors, mentors, and other COMA members of ongoing skill development.
● Foster the development and improvement of employability skills (interpersonal and life skills) that transcend a particular technology or job category.

Job Title: Production Manager – CNC Machine Shop
Location: Manufacturing Skills Academy
Reports To: Plant Manager

Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all machining operations on the MSA production floor. This role requires hands-on leadership to manage people, processes, and production flow to effectively train students in high-quality, budget-conscious, and timely manufacturing methods. The candidate will engage with trainees on the shop floor, serving as both an integral part of the trainee support system and an available mentor. The ideal candidate will be proactive in promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and will play a key role in supporting certification efforts for various machining software.
Key Responsibilities:
● Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily production activities across CNC lathes and mills.
● Supervise and support students, machinists, setup technicians, and operators.
● Monitor workflow to ensure on-time delivery of high-precision parts.
● Champion and enforce shop floor safety practices and OSHA compliance.
● Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and corrective action plans.
● Work closely with the Quality Lab to ensure parts meet tight tolerance specifications.
● Drive continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
● Maintain production records, track performance metrics, and update ERP systems.
● Interact with and instruct MSA students about industry best practices, OSHA regulations, and routine maintenance.

Qualifications:
● 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
● Strong technical understanding of CNC lathes, mills, tooling, and setups.
● Experience in a small shop environment with hands-on involvement in daily operations.
● Proven track record of enforcing safety protocols and building a safety-focused culture.
● Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and lean manufacturing principles.
● Comfortable reading technical drawings and using GD&T.
● Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and shop scheduling tools.
● Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Position:
Our Blood Institute is looking for a Manufacturing Laboratory Manager who will be responsible for management and control of all daily manufacturing operations for the department, including all staff, budgets, environment, and work processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory compliance with all regulations in accordance with AABB, CLIA, federal, state, OBI policies and procedures. Always ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures in the work area and use of applicable protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids. Manage blood component product manufacturing based on inventory and customer needs.
Qualifications:
- Position requires a Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science. A higher degree is preferred.
- 2-5 years supervisory experience.
- Must maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements concerning validation, calibration, quality control, and maintenance of equipment and supplies used at Oklahoma Blood Institute.
- Must have a working knowledge of blood and tissue center procedures and equipment.
